Constellation Energy - Environmental Management Information System
In 2006, ENKON deployed the Viridian CloudWorks Environmental Management Information System for Constellation Energy (CE). This system encompassed tools to manage environmental data, including incidents, tanks, waste, and permit compliance. Custom forms were developed for CE to manage data about their power generating units as well. Once ENKON’s waste and tanks forms were customized to CE’s requirements, ENKON migrated all of CE’s waste and tank data from their in-house built Access database into Viridian. CE was particularly interested in having ENKON develop custom functionality to track metrics data across their organization. Verizon - Wetlands Mapping System
ENKON built and hosts a Wetlands Mapping System for Verizon using ENKON’s EasyMap application suite. The map interface uses ENKON’s proprietary map viewer, EasyMap and an ArcGIS Server and ArcSDE backend. The application is used to locate potential wetland areas prior to the purchase of properties by Verizon using the mapping interface. ENKON was required to process the USGS topographic maps for the entire US and overlay the National Wetlands inventory onto this base layer. Other layers that have been added over the last few years include Google aerial photography and Google’s road network; and soil moisture content (SSURGO data sets) and other features such as hydrology and coastlines. The system allows full address searching and matching capabilities, and is used by Verizon’s national operations, right-of-way and outside plant personnel.
This broad user base has access through the system to nearly a terabyte of detailed mapping information, all housed and managed in ENKON’s Data Centre. The Wetlands Mapping System was first commissioned in November 2003, and ENKON has been hosting the operational system since that time. Updating the GIS data layers and the map viewer technology was done again in 2009/2010.
