Washington State looks to Victoria Company for Innovative Watershed Management Solution

Victoria, B.C., May 24, 2006 - ENKON Information Systems Inc. (ENKON) announced today that it has been contracted by the Washington State Conservation Commission (WSCC) to deploy and host a web-based repository for the state's Conservation Districts' habitat restoration projects. The project is known as the Watershed Data Pilot Project (WDPP). It will provide Washington State Conservation Districts, the Washington State Conservation Commission (WSCC) and other local entities supporting habitat restoration with a single web-based application and data repository of project and monitoring data. The data will be shared by all the participating agencies. This never-before-seen level of collaboration is drawing great interest from environmental scientists and enthusiasts across the state and beyond.

ENKON, chosen as the successful vendor after an exhaustive RFP and screening process that included stiff competition from prominent IT companies throughout North America, will provide the WSCC with its enviroLIS application, handheld devices, hosting services, project management, and integrated GIS (mapping) capabilities.

Niko Zorkin, President of ENKON states: "We are very excited to be selected by the WSCC to assist them in this innovative and ground breaking pilot project. The concept is to enable diverse agencies and organizations that all work in the field of habitat restoration in Washington State to share information in real time over the Internet. This state-level collaboration will help them to manage and monitor their habitat restoration activities more effectively and efficiently. This project represents a new market niche for our product, enviroLIS, which is ideally suited to address the WSCC's needs."

The WDPP's technological infrastructure is based on ENKON'S Environmental and Land Information System (enviroLIS), a suite of web-based software tools that helps environmental and land managers reduce time, save money, and increase efficiency in managing information about their facilities and land assets. enviroLIS has traditionally been marketed and sold to Fortune 500 companies that have the need for staff to collaborate in the management of their environmental and land asset information pertaining to their properties and facilities.

"The WSCC should be commended for their foresight and commitment to watershed and habitat health in commissioning this well-thought-out pilot project, which will ultimately pave the way towards a long-term watershed data management solution for the entire state," adds Zorkin.

Boston Sand and Gravel Deploys enviroLIS EMS on Company Wide Basis

In 2002 Boston Sand and Gravel began the process of implementing a sustainable Environmental Management System (EMS) for its 9 companies and 20 facilities producing and distributing ready mix concrete, aggregate and bark mulch in northeastern USA.

Because of its diverse operations, which also include railroad operations, Boston Sand and Gravel recognized the need for an efficient and flexible Information Management System (IMS). "We selected the ENKON web based system over 8 other competitors in a competitive bid/selection process. We were confident that ENKON could help us achieve 3 critical project criteria: to implement the IMS to a strict (less than 12 month) schedule, to employ a system that organized environmental management information in a very simple, user-friendly manner for a broad user group and to ensure that the IMS platform we selected would allow us the flexibility to accommodate changing business needs and include other risk management information such as safety, transportation and maintenance." states Linda Charpentier, Director, Environmental Health & Safety at Boston Sand and Gravel Company.

ENKON worked closely with us to deploy a complete environmental suite and continues to support our IMS needs. The system is a valuable resource for us."

Victoria Company Provides On-line Information System for Australian Passenger Rail

VICTORIA – ENKON Information Systems Inc., a Victoria-based software development company, has landed a major contract to export the BC-developed EasyMap™ technology to Western Australia.

EasyMap™ Hosted Solutions, was selected by the Public Transport Authority of Western Australia to provide system-wide information for its urban passenger rail network. ENKON's system will alleviate the data management issues for over 5,000 km of rail corridor, reducing the time and money that the Public Transport Authority spends on managing its land and rail assets.

"This is our first contract for EasyMap™ outside North America," ENKON President, Niko Zorkin, said. "It is very exciting for us and it positions EasyMap™ as a world leader in web-based systems for the rail industry. Our hope is that we can leverage the product's reputation into other jurisdictions where commuter rail is a significant part of the public transportation system.'

ENKON's web-based information management systems are used by companies in environmental, health, safety and land-management applications. EasyMap™ technology is already a North American leader in hosting web-based information management systems for the freight and commuter rail industry. The product is unique because it provides low cost, powerful, Internet-based mapping and information management that is also easy-to-use.

"Since founding ENKON in 1996, a lot has changed in the business environment," Zorkin said. "Just 10 years ago, it would have been impossible to host an information management system for a client as far away as Australia. Now, through the Internet and with high-speed global connections, ENKON and other Canadian companies have access to markets large enough to make product innovation in web-based services financially viable. That is very promising for our local economy."

Work on the EasyMap™ project with Western Australia is scheduled to begin early in 2004.
